I had a small problem with my car and the engine light came on. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a code reader for once in a while use. This one fit the bill perfectly. It was quite inexpensive but works as advertised perfectly. It read the engine code (had to look the code up on line) and after i did the repair it reset the codes and turned off the engine light. For 16 bucks how could you go wrong. What a bargain.

For $26.50 you can't go wrong with this one. It feels pretty light and is made of plastic but I'm not planning on throwing this thing around. It is very easy to use. I am not a mechanic by trade... If I were, I might want a fancier version, however, this little scanner seems to do everything that the much more expensive ones do for a very, very low price. The only thing that the more expensive ones MIGHT do is actually display the text for the error. I used this Code scanner to troubleshoot at check engine light on our spare Honda Accord. The car had 220,000 miles on it, and I didn't want to spend a pile of money to have the issue diagnosed and fixed. I came across this code reader in my Amazon research and was surprised at the low price! Plugged it in and diagnosed the problem! My cousin came over and took it so decided to order one more again yesterday and it has already shipped. I would recommend this tool to any home mechanic, as it really does the job for troubleshooting Check Engine Lights.

I am a entry level technician, so I am buying lots of tools and I can't always afford the bigger more expensive tools. I needed a simple scanner for home use and saw this one. I wasnt very sure about buying this since I was used to use more expensive snap on scanners but after receiving it and plugging it in, I loved it. The best part is that it only costs 26.50 dollars and does exactly what you need it to do. It scanned a 97 geo metro, 01 v6 Camry and a 07 1500 ram with no issues.

Just plugged it in and got the codes. However, it will not tell you what the code means like some other OBD2 scanners. The code can easily be looked up online, something that I always do. I would recommend this product as it is great for the price and does what it is supposed to do.

This does the minimum needed - returns and clear the diagnostic trouble codes. It works fine on my 2009 Subaru Forester. The two-button control system is minimalist but feels natural. The codes display without explanation but you can look them up on the Web. Overall this is a great choice for occasional use - that is, if you're a typical automobile owner who wants to know more than "check engine." BTW, the first thing I learned was that "link error" means "you forgot to turn on the ignition!"

The scanner works as advertized. It doesn't do as much as some of the more expensive ones, but it's easy to look up the codes online. This stuff isn't rocket science, but it can be a bit confusing if you are not a trained auto technician. It helps to do a little research on what OBD is and the model years that have the technology. There are a lot of web sites that come up on a web search for OBD codes. www.check-engine-light.com has links to the generic codes and the manufacturer specific codes. Some of the parts stores may do the check for free, probably hoping to sell you the parts to repair the problem.
